Children’s program on the Street Musicians Festival!
Musical show, dance spectacle and juggling on a unicycle
This year’s Street Musicians Festival will also have three programs intended for our youngest citizens – the comic kids Musical Show, an interactive dance spectacle Dance The Dance We Dance and the performance by the juggler and showman Spinus.
The art duo Zorana Milošaković-Tasić and Goran Balančević Balanac, stars of the Puppet Theatre “Pinokio””and the Little Theatre “Duško Radović” in Belgrade, have prepared a play titled Musical Show. “Rock’n’roll is eternal as long as the kids keep the faith, said Cane from Partibrejkers. That sentence was our starting point for the creation of this mix of comedy, imitation and a sort of musical game of wits. Musical Show will actually be a big concert, with performances from Bajaga, Cane and Neša Galija. There will also be that Korean Gangnam Style, so the kids can let go and party. It will all go on playback, and the two actors will animate the entire thing”, said Zorana Milošaković-Tasić.
– The main thread interwoven through the play is the story of viability of rock music in this region, which is under constant pressure from the commercial scene. Through this art form, that is puppeteering, we continue to preserve the foundations which we grew up on, loved, lived and continue to live on – explains Zorana. – If you play rock to a child now, it will listen to it later on in life. If through a puppet, as a near and dear means of communication with kids, you market that for which we claim to be the best regarding musical choice, than I believe that there won’t be failures and risks for that child not being formed on a base of good sounds, rhythms and, most importantly, good energy.
The youngest visitors of the Street Musicians Festival will also be offered good energy and an interactive dance during the performance Dance The Dance We Dance. The creator of this show is Neda Popović, the choreographer and dance instructor from Novi Sad (two years ago, on the Festival, she organized the program Get Lucky Flash Mob!), while the kids who participate in the show Dance The Dance We Dance come from several Novi Sad dance studios (Studio Five, Partizan 2 and Profesional).
Neda explains: “Dance The Dance We Dance last about 45 minutes. It will be a performance which will through story and dance remind kids of the forgotten street games. In time of modern technologies, internet and smart phones, children far too rarely play with one another, until they find the treasure chest hiding old games and a rag doll which will reveal the magic of playing hopscotch, jump-rope, Duck… Duck… Goose! Through a number of explanations and choreographies, the children will learn how to have fun this way. At the end of the performance, the children from the audience will be invited to try out the presented games with the help from the kids participating in the play.”
The kids who attend this year’s Street Musicians Festival will also be entertained by the Macedonian juggler and showman Gazmend Aliu – in the street art world better known under the name Spinus. As we found out, he became a street performer in 1999, when a group of young Macedonian enthusiasts dedicated to the skill of juggling and acrobatics decided to unite their creative energies and after that share them with the rest of the world.
Spinus is a young, energetic artist, who emits positive energy, while his long time experience as a street entertainer ensures, as noticed, a good connection with the audience. His skillful juggling is almost hypnotizing to those who whiteness it, with a grand finale on a two-meter tall unicycle to end the performance with a bang!
The 15th jubilee edition of the Street Musicians Festival will be held from 3rd to 5th September 2015, in Novi Sad. In front of the audience in Novi Sad and its guests, the Festival will host performances from: the Californian swing attraction Phat Cat Swinger, the jazzmen Belgrade Dixieland Orchestra and retro pop-rockers VIS Limunada from Belgrade, Novi Sad’s own stand-up comedy duo Daško & Mlađa, the Americana masters from Rijeka My Buddy Moose, the renowned Belgrade accordion player Miško Plavi and the singer-songwriter and poet Ilija Ludvig, the street musician and entertainer from Zagreb Davor Peršić and 14 other bands, individuals and art troupes (Balkan Weirdos, Don’t Touch Anything, DrvoTruo, Duo Nomadiko, Dušana Stefanović, Haos žongleri, InSession, INTU, Kezz, Kralj Čačka, Lepi Jova, Nylon Club, Vuk Muškinja and Wooden Ambulance) who arrive to the festival program through participation on the Open Call.
