Hilarious clown action, high-altitude acrobatics and jazz mixed with flamenco

Also arriving to this year’s Street Musicians Festival are some truly illustrious names from France, Italy and Great Britain: actor, dancer and mime Jean Ménigault will show the audience what a hilarious clown action looks like, the art couple Ferdinando D’Andria and Maila Sparapani will stage a show-concert full of gags and high-altitude acrobatics, while Craig Sutton, better known as The Flamenco Thief, will play his extraordinary jazz-flamenco mix.

French artist Jean Ménigault is a renowned street performer, successful producer, art director and instructor. Whilst a teenager he was a hip-hop dancer, to which he then added a lot of original, clown comedy. Afterwards, the theatre boards saw him sing and dance, mostly in musical comedies and pantomime pieces.

He created his one-man show by the beginning of the 90s, found on pantomime and clown performances. Today, street theatre is his greatest passion, although business often leads him to the studios of different Italian TV stations. Most of all, the audience loves seeing Ménigault as a clown on a motorcycle, while the critics respect his contribution to operas by the greats as are Puccini and Verdi.

Italians Ferdinando D’Andria and Maila Sparapani, after successful performances in the open in front of the audiences in France, Spain and Croatia, will play out for the crowd on the Street Musicians Festival a side-splitting show titled Sconcerto d’Amore. As we find out, in the show Nando e Maila are a couple always agreeing to disagree, until someone from the audience doesn’t become the object of Maila’s desire…

Nando i Maila

In the show Sconcerto d’Amore, Nando and Maila lead us through the rapids of rock’n’roll to classical music, via rollercoaster jokes and turbulent emotions. Drums, cymbals, bells, contrabass, cello, harp, trumpet, violin, accordion, flute, electric guitar… create a magical atmosphere and an amazing world of sound, in the show which is, as they announce, going to be for all ages to enjoy.

More unusual and exciting sounds, produced just with guitar, will be presented to the Festival audience by Craig Sutton, a virtuoso English musician better known as The Flamenco Thief. Craig often treats his guitar as a purely rhythmic, percussion instrument, in front of crowds, who because of it, often love to get down and dance the night away. He is a fast and precise old-school jazz guitar player, but also a clever artist who loves to use modern guitar effects and rhythms close to hip-hop.

The Flamenco Thief

His debut album, released in the UK four years ago, quickly gained favor from renowned musical critics from BBC and the New Musical Express magazine. Last year, The Flamenco Thief in space of just ten months performed no less than 250 times, in 40 different countries!

As part of his current European Summer Tour, Craig Sutton will on the Street Musicians Festival perform for the crowd in the center of Novi Sad not just one, but two concerts!
