Program on the Second Day of the Street Musicians Festival
The second day of this year’s Street Musicians Festival will be marked by attractive concerts, circus and acting performances, karaoke competition, panel discussion and barber shop jazz – on several festival locations: in the Catholic Courtyard, Liberty Square, Danube and Zmaj Jovina Streets, Theatre Square and in the Chinese Quarter.
The stage on Liberty Square and the space in front of it – from 5:30 PM until one hour after midnight – will host performances from: the Italian marching orchestra BadaBimBumBand, the youngest participants of the Festival gathered around the project Dance, The Dance, We Dance, young gypsy jazzers from Banja Luka Nylon Club, Italian acrobats and multi-instrumentalists Nando e Maila, Zrenjanin’s jaw-harp/DJ duo Balkan Weirdos, jazz, pop and rock trio from Kikinda DrvoTruo and Belgrade’s singer-songwriter Kralj Čačka, better known as the Serbian Tom Waits.
The small festival stage in Zmaj Jovina Street, will, from 5 PM, first host the performance from the winner of Takt Fest – Bogdan Spasić, and then, in 6 PM, Lisa Pellegrini will perform traditional Indian dance. From 7:15 PM until 10:15 PM, the crowd in Zmaj Jovina Street will hear performances from singer-songwriter from Sremska Mitrovica Vuk Muškinja, British guitar player The Flamenco Thief and the Hungarian world and ambient music band INTU. Afterwards the stage will host the Karaoke Battle, with contestants representing different parts of Novi Sad.
Danube Street, from 7:45 PM until 11 PM, will also host the following program: Novi Sad’s troupe Creative Drive will perform their Contemporary Circus Show: Proletarians, Frenchman Jean Ménigault will entertain clown and mime fans, street entertainer from Zagreb Davor Peršić will show what it means to be a one-man band, while the Italian BadaBimBumBand will have another mobile show.
Part of the Festival program, will also be the panel discussion about the initiative for regulating busking in Novi Sad, beginning at 2 PM in the club Fabrika in the Chinese Quarter. And then there is the afternoon and evening program broadcast from RTV stage on the Theatre Square by Radio Novi Sad and O Radio (with concerts from Branimir & Neprijatelji, Šinobusi, Lira Vega, Samostalni referenti…) as well as the jazz gig in the barber shop Čarolija Berberaj in 4 Mite Ružića Street.
Tonight, the big stage in the Catholic Courtyard – from 8 PM – will host performances from Novi Sad’s world music and Balkan ethno attraction Lepi Jova and Belgrade’s premier accordion player Miško Plavi. Rijeka’s masters of Americana and garage rock My Buddy Moose will perform from 22:30, while Novi Sad’s radio hosts and stand-up comedians Daško & Mlađa, will unfortunately not be able to perform on this year’s Festival due to sickness of one of the performers.
The Street Musicians Festival – lasting until Saturday, 5th September – is organized by the Art Association Inbox from Novi Sad, with support from the City of Novi Sad and the Provincial Secretary for Culture and Information, Tourist Organization of the City of Novi Sad, the embassy of the United States of America in Belgrade, the Italian Institute for Culture in Belgrade, the Serbian Petroleum Industry, Telekom Serbia and Generali Insurance Serbia.
