Today Begins The 15th Street Musicians Festival!

This year’s 15th jubilee Street Musicians Festival will be opened by the spectacular Street Musical Clash concert by Rijeka’s band Let 3 and Novi Sad’s group Atheist Rap, tonight at 9:30 PM, in the center of Novi Sad, on the Freedom Square!

Two concert stages on the square will host Rijeka’s shock rock attraction Let 3 and Novi Sad’s punk-rockers Atheist Rap. Street Musical Clash, is a musical battle of sorts – never before witnessed in Serbia! – involving Let 3 playing the Atheist’s songs, and the Atheists playing songs of Let 3. Of course, both bands will also play their greatest hits.

Prior to that, along Mihajlo Pupin Boulevard, and later through Modena Street, all the way to the Freedom Square, will arrive the merry musical and dance procession. Formed around 8:30 PM at the beginning of Mihajlo Pupin Boulevard, that is at the beginning of Novi Sad’s side of the Varadin bridge, the procession will be led by the Italian brass-percussion orchestra BadaBimBumBand.

Behind them, mingling with the crowd, will closely follow Novi Sad’s street performers Haos žongleri, accompanied by dancers from several city dance studios, and, finally, the renowned drummer Dragoljub Đuričić with his drummers. Đuričić will give shakers to the participants of the procession, specially created for this event, and, to the sound of the rhythm, invite them to dance their way to the center of Novi Sad.

STREET MUSICAL CLASH 2

As an overture to the festival procession and the grand opening of the Festival, also on the Freedom Square, from 6 PM, the audience will be greeted by the musical show by the already mentioned Italian marching orchestra BadaBimBumBand, while half an hour later with the performance by French clown and pantomime Jean Ménigault.

At the same time, not far from the square, on the balconies in Zmaj Jovina Street, classical music will be performed by members from the Association of Guitar Players of Vojvodina, while in the yard of Sokolski dom await you performances by Italian street artists – dancer Lisa Pellegrini and the high altitude acrobats and multi-instrumentalists Nando e Maila.

On the first day of this year’s Street Musicians Festival, beginning at 4 PM, journalists and radio presenters from Radio Novi Sad and O Radio will, on the festival RTV stage on the Theatre Square host bands Gravy Tune, The Dust, Mrs. May, V. I. T. R. I. O. L

The Street Musicians Festival – begins today and lasts until Saturday, 5th September – is organized by the Art Association Inbox from Novi Sad, with support from the City of Novi Sad and the Provincial Secretary for Culture and Information, Tourist Organization of the City of Novi Sad, the embassy of the United States of America in Belgrade, the Italian Institute for Culture in Belgrade, the Serbian Petroleum Industry, Telekom Serbia and Generali Insurance Serbia.
